Some Photographs I Have Made (thru August 1997)

Yeah, so I decided to take an internship out in California for the summer of 1997. It was a good experience, especially since California is such a photogenic place. Here are some of the photos I took during that summer and the trips out and back. (And some other stuff thrown in for effect!)

Morning sun from Morro Rock, overlooking portions of King's Canyon and Sequoiah National Parks. Kodak Gold 100 film, 340KB 24-bit JPEG
Entrance to Yosimite Valley, looking Southeast toward one of the many towering cliffs surrounding you. Yosimite is truly a striking place, unlike any other I have ever seen. (Or photographed!) Kodak Gold 100 film, 293KB 24-bit JPEG
August afternoon view of downtown San Francisco from atop Coit Tower. Earthquake bait. Kodak Gold 100 film, 232KB 24-bit JPEG
Giant redwoods along the Avenue of the Giants, just off US-101. A terrific drive on a beautiful morning, the 26 miles of the Avenue are smooth, narrow roads weaving between some of the tallest trees in the world. Kodak Gold 100 film, 312KB 24-bit JPEG
If this looks like a scene from Return of the Jedi, you're right. Ferns, big trees, the harsh California sunlight only barely penetrating the thick canopy. But when it does, the contrast is terrific. Kodak Gold 100 film, 410KB 24-bit JPEG
Yellowstone National Park, somewhere in the north end; this is a photo of some of the new growth since one of the many major forest fires the park has experienced. Kodak Gold 100 film, 488KB 24-bit JPEG
An aircraft junkyard and museum in Somewhere, Wyoming. It was quite a walk across 2-foot anthills and other scary desert thingys to get out to these old planes. Kodak Gold 100 film, 273KB 24-bit JPEG
Launch of a Minuteman ICBM from Vandenburg AFB on a June evening. It made quite a roar. Kodak Royal Gold 1000 film, 97KB 24-bit JPEG
Rear facade of the Mission de La Purisma, in Lompoc, California. Very spartan accomodations in an airy, old, well-kept complex make this mission the one to visit. Kodak T-Max 100 film, 155KB 24-bit JPEG
Late morning view from Somewhere, Utah, of the highway vanishing into a rocky ridge north of Moab. Kodak T-Max 100 film, 548KB 24-bit JPEG
Lotus Espirit Turbo, at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit, January 1997. Royal Gold 25 film, 136KB 24-bit JPEG
An old Porsche roadster convertible. Royal Gold 25 film, 140KB 24-bit JPEG
New Jaguar XKE roadster, I won this one from McDonald's. Yeah. Royal Gold 25 film, 98KB 24-bit JPEG
Interior of the Rennaissance Center, Westin Hotel center core. Looks like a great place to putz around in. Royal Gold 25 film, 108KB 24-bit JPEG
My '78 model Ibanez Performer 300. The frets are all worn down, but the sustain is incredible!!! Kodak T-Max 400 film, 50KB 24-bit JPEG
Evening view from our balcony at Willow Tree. Royal Gold 1000 film, 12KB 24-bit JPEG
My sister Marlene's 21st birthday party, close-up of lighting candles. January 1997, Royal Gold 1000 film, 22KB 24-bit JPEG
Stormtroopers Malone and Wang on R-n-R Royal Gold 25 film, 67KB 24-bit JPEG
Dominic Dobson's No. 7 Dodge Stratus, an NATCC car. Taken with new 28mm lens at Detroit Auto Show on Kodak Royal Gold 25 film, 105KB 24-bit JPEG
