rockdetail Parameters Page

rockdetail parameters

Three parameters are of importance in rockdetail, the recursion depth, the perturbation exponent, and the base perturbation. See the images below to discern how they are used.

Effect of parameters

The following images show the effect of using the depth option. (also -n 0.3)

-d 0 -d 1 (default) -d 2 -d 3 -d 4 -d 5

The following images show the effect of using the normal perturbation option. (also -d 4)

-n 0.05 -n 0.1 (default) -n 0.2 -n 0.4 -n 0.8

The following images show the effect of using the normal exponent option. (also -d 4 -n 0.3)

-ne 0.5 -ne 0.8 -ne 1.0 (default) -ne 1.2 -ne 1.5 -ne 2.0

The following images show the effect of using the normal bias option. (also -d 4 -n 0.3)

-nb -0.2 -nb -0.1 -nb 0.0 (default) -nb 0.1 -nb 0.2 -nb 0.3

The following images show the effect of using the random seed option. (also -d 4 -n 0.3)

-s 0 -s 1 -s 2 -s 3 -s 4 -s 5

These two models are examples of the clamping feature of rockcreate. When turned on, all free edges of the surface stay straight, and do not become jagged. An identical random number seed will create similar topography. On the left is the output of rockdetail without the -ce option; on the right is the same object with the option.
